Author Biography

Bill BuggBill Bugg was born in Richmond, VA. He graduated from Richmond public schools and attended Virginia Tech. While at Tech he married Billie Jean and transferred to the University of Richmond where he graduated with a degree in math and physics. After graduation he entered the technical field building large computers. Bill then went to work at Bell Telephone Laboratories in Whippany, NJ, doing computer programming on an Air Force defense contract. While in Whippany two of Bill's and Billie Jean's three children were born.

Bill joined the IBM Corporation and the family moved to southern Maryland where Bill worked assisting in the development of manned space flight. During this time Bill's and Billie Jean's third child was born. During this time he also continued to further his education earning a master's degree and completing all course work for a doctorate degree in engineering. He took business and law courses to broaden his knowledge in those two fields.

Bill worked for IBM for 30 years, spending seven of those years in Poughkeepsie, NY. He retired from IBM as the site manager for his division's product development of communication products. Bill then joined a small company as a consultant and lecturer traveling extensively in the United States and abroad.

Throughout these years Bill was very active in the community. He was superintendent of Sunday School at two churches; he was on the Finance Team at his Church for six years spending four of those years as the Chairman; he was Master of a Masonic lodge; he was president of a PTA; he coached youth baseball for 15 years and youth football for 18 years; he belonged to several rod and gun clubs where he enjoyed hunting and fishing; he was president of the local Frederick, MD, Ducks Unlimited chapter for three years. Bill and three of his family members started a band in 1985. The band grew to nine guys who get together every Thursday night to play music in Bill's home studio. The band, named "Just For Fun", provides a lot of fun for Bill, the other band members and frequent visitors. Bill also became a Master Gardner for his own enjoyment as well as helping others to use horticulture to add some enjoyment in their lives.

Bill bought a farm in West Virginia where he has been active with the local residents raising cattle and horses.

Bill dresses as Santa Clause each Christmas for several organizations.



Bill's and Billie Jean's life together was slowly and traumatically ended when Billie Jean was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Bill was Billie Jean's main caregiver. He did all he could to make his wife's remaining life as happy as possible. Today he contributes personal funds and most book profits to Alzheimer's research to help find ways to delay if not prevent the ravages of Alzheimer’s Disease. Bill has children and grandchildren and he wants to do all he can to prevent them and others from suffering the adversity he had to endure.
